The historic surroundings were beautiful, though the hotel closed the architectural heritage sites to guests. Breakfast was good and varied, and the view from the restaurant was of the Fisherman’s Bastion. Ordering a taxi was quick and smooth, both the cars and the drivers were clean and organized. The sky bar was noticeably full, but maybe next time. The room was a bit cool, even though the temperature could be adjusted, it didn’t really work and cold air kept coming in.

The view was amazing. For a 5‑star hotel I expected luxury and cleanliness, but we got a dirty, run‑down room.

The hotel is fabulous in a wonderful setting. There was nothing we didn’t like, it ticked all the boxes for us. But if you’re after nightlife or varied restaurants, you’ll need public transport or taxis.
