Very outdated and in need of a remodel, but otherwise a great place.

I got pancakes, which were fine, but I was hoping for a breakfast buffet because I had little time to eat. A continental breakfast would have been better given my schedule. My room: I was first assigned to the 3rd floor of a building with no elevator—who runs a hotel without an elevator? They eventually put me on the main floor of the lodge. I also had to ask for an iron and for the ice maker; there was no information in the room or hallways. Aside from that, the room was great. Pool: I asked at the front desk how to get to the pool, and I learned I needed a bracelet. I got it, but I never made it back to the pool because my bad knee couldn’t handle the walk. I didn’t swim, just sat by the pool.

The staff we met were friendly. The pool was nice and well maintained, as were the park grounds. The entry door and porch door were difficult to lock; the porch door was hard to open and didn’t close properly. The bathroom door dragged on the floor, making it hard to shut. The floor was vinyl. Windows hadn’t been cleaned for a long time—dirty and water‑spotted. No hair dryer as advertised. The windows were nasty outside. The in‑room phone didn’t work. We were charged $50 for our dog to stay; I understand pet fees exist, but that felt high in my experience. Overall, this didn’t meet my expectations for a Kentucky State Park Lodge.

It was super cozy, very clean, well stocked, and just the right vibe for a comfortable overnight stay! My only complaint would probably be the lack of toilet paper. It was such a minor issue—we just grabbed some while we were out for dinner and I know if we’d asked the location would have given us some. But truthfully we’re toilet paper snobs LOL.
