Cardiff Sandringham Hotel

“I had a wonderful stay here. It was the end of a 6 week trip so I was happy just to see the Castle and spending the rest”

It was very central and everything was right at the doorstep. Cardiff Castle is literally a 1‑2 minute walk from the hotel and there are plenty of bars and restaurants up and down the street. When you walk out the door KFC is to the right about 5 shops down and walk out to the left and McDonald’s is also about 5 shops down, so it’s very handy if you feel like ducking out for a quick meal. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating. This is a stairs‑only hotel, so it’s not disabled friendly. I didn’t want to lug my heavy luggage up and down, so the staff did it for me. They also, when possible, moved me down to the first floor to spare me more stairs, which I was very grateful for. The bathroom is very run‑down and tired, but the price reflects that, so if you want a bed and a shower this place has it for a good budget. The stairs and not being able to handle my luggage myself were a downside, but the staff were very happy to help and I’m grateful for that.

The location, room and large bathroom, cleanliness of the room, and bed and bath linens were good. The construction noise on the hotel’s external façade was a nuisance.

“Great location for everything”

Central to everything, the location was great and the staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was clean and comfy. The streets outside were noisy for most of the night, and while the room was fine the bathroom could use an upgrade.

The location was excellent. The day staff were lovely. The alarm that went off from 5am. The workmen on the scaffolding outside my bed room window at 830am
