The setting was charming, the garden beautiful, breakfast served on the terrace with a floral scent in the background, the house had character, and the owners were warm.

The B&B sits on a narrow lane and to reach Monreale (the cathedral is a must-see) you have to climb a bit. The host drives you to the centre or the bus stop if you want to go to Palermo. Walking back is fine, and on the way you’ll find a supermarket. Breakfast was good, you can relax in the lovely garden, and there’s a nice pool.

We were heading to Monreale from Palermo’s centre when GPS tried to route us through the ZTL, so we called the host who was extremely helpful, sent us the exact location and explained how to exit Palermo. Upon arrival we were welcomed by the hosts who were the friendliest we met during our 10‑day trip and upgraded our room at no extra cost. The host kindly escorted us into Monreale with dinner tips – we had a great meal at the fish restaurant Ciambra. The walk back to Al Giardino was steep, sometimes dark, and took about 15 minutes. The next morning, after a delicious breakfast outside, we explored the stunning garden – a real oasis after Palermo’s chaos. The pool was closed but looked lovely for the season. We were sad to leave our charming hosts and would definitely recommend this B & B. Nothing negative.

The landlords were very nice, offered us free transport to the city centre, and gave plenty of useful information for our Palermo visit. The breakfast buffet was excellent for Southern Italy standards (both savoury and sweet), with freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade cakes. The pool was already covered, so we couldn’t use it.
