Everything about the place was wonderful. It was a lovely, historic house with a garden and a delicious breakfast. The best part was the host Ichien‑San, who was incredibly helpful overall.

The place felt spacious and had a genuine old‑house charm, with a garden that made me snap dozens of photos; the bathroom and toilet were modern and very user‑friendly, and the Wi‑Fi worked smoothly. Both Yogibo sofas we tried were so appealing I considered buying the same one. Breakfast was lightly seasoned yet incredibly tasty, featuring vegetables I’d never seen before, and I can already see myself lingering over that relaxed morning meal. The location, a bit away from Lake Biwa, was very quiet. Booking through the usual site meant no dinner was included, so with the early check‑in I had to decide whether to drive out for a meal or bring something in, since nothing nearby was available; the inn did say they could arrange a sort of catered dinner, but I declined after booking a separate one elsewhere—had they shown a photo beforehand I might have ordered it.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ichien yashiki. All staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They helped us out a lot. Breakfast was delicious. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated, with a wonderful garden. The surrounding area is beautiful and quiet. Thank you, Ichien‑san and everyone, for this wonderful experience!

The hotel was spacious, rare, clean, quiet, and had a great view. The breakfast was delicious. However, I was a bit disappointed that there was no warm soup for dinner, even instant would have been fine.
