The spot right by the lagoon was great, and the terrace was nice, but there was no hot water and the tap water had a bad smell.

Being on the lagoon’s edge was pleasant with beautiful sunsets and a decent kayak spot, yet the shower water smelled strong and unpleasant, the owners had nothing to do with it—it's the groundwater, not drinkable, so bring bottles. Also, no bikes on site means you must rent scooters to get to town, and the pots could be in better shape.

“Fakarava is a beautiful island, but too rustic for us. We will not be back.”

The place was roomy and comfy, but the price felt high for what was offered. If they’d supplied a 5‑gallon jug of water for us to use, it would have been much better. The island’s grocery shop had no water, and the nearest store was far away, so we rented a scooter for three days at $186, yet still found no water. For the $1380 we paid for five nights, at least give guests drinking water. The snack shack sells water at $4 per liter, while town sells 1.5 L for $1.50, but that didn’t help when the store was out of water.
