I chose New Road Hotel because I was attending a two‑day workshop there and staying at the same venue seemed convenient. The room itself was very good for a London stay, but be prepared for noise, especially on Friday evenings, given the hotel’s location on a main road. Unfortunately, the food and service were disappointing. Lunch was included with our workshop booking, but vegetarian options were extremely limited, sometimes only one choice. When I asked for an alternative, I was told it wasn’t possible; I even requested eggs instead, which was also refused. It seemed there was little consideration for vegetarians or vegans. On the second day, the staff struggled to organise lunch even though we were the only group waiting. I had specifically asked for a mushroom‑free option, but when my name was called I received a dish with mushrooms. I started picking them out and adding pepper to make it more palatable. When I asked for a separate plate to remove the mushrooms, the staff took my plate away. They eventually realised they had given me the wrong order, but instead of fixing it, they served my partially eaten, tampered‑with plate to another person in our group. That was completely unacceptable. Only after I questioned what had happened did they give me a fresh meal. Overall, the food was extremely disappointing, and the staff’s friendliness, attention to detail and efficiency left a lot to be desired. The lack of flexibility and consideration for dietary requirements was particularly frustrating. The room was good, but the dining experience seriously let the hotel down.
