“Memorable experience at Kanjiya and Shirakawago”
The minshuku was unforgettable, with a meticulously prepared Japanese dinner and breakfast. The innkeeper was warm and courteous, even arranging a surprise cake for my son’s birthday. Our three‑person room had air‑conditioning and fans, and the onsen, though small, was spotless; we took turns using it. Located inside the Shirakawago UNESCO World Heritage Site (no. 28 on the map), we drove to the minshuku after letting the security guard know. Free parking was available in front of the property, and after checkout we could leave our car and walk to the heritage site the next morning, all within walking distance. We could also take a shuttle bus or walk up and down the observatory hill; we chose the shuttle bus (next to no. 57 on the map, check the schedule) and then walked down the slope. We enjoyed the Heritage Museum, Wada House, and bought custard pudding from Shirakawago Purin no le (Pudding House). Nothing negative.
