Wochner's Hotel‑Sternen, a family‑run inn in Schluchsee, sits just 800 m from the lake’s crystal waters. Rooms feature décor, free Wi‑Fi, satellite TV, private baths, balconies, and a terrace. Guests dine on a breakfast buffet and regional specialties, then unwind in a sauna or solarium. Nearby, Aqua Fun water park, Feldberg ski slopes, and the train station are all within a mile.

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good and plentiful, but the room and the building clearly need major renovation. The carpets are heavily worn, the furniture mismatched, the room was bland and old-fashioned, and the pieces seemed thrown together. We paid 350 € for a double room for two nights in October, plus a dog fee and a tourist tax, almost 400 €, which is far from justified given the state of the rooms and the whole property. Dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant (even though there’s no open buffet), which is a problem throughout Schluchsee.

The staff greeted us with a warm welcome, and the decorated hotel radiated a cheerful vibe. Its central location is perfect, and our large room featured balconies on both sides. By early evening it was completely quiet, and the breakfast was served plentifully to our liking.

The staff were attentive, cheerful, and friendly, and the email communication was refreshingly different and very competent. The only drawback was that the duvets felt quite heavy for warm days.
