The location was great, and everything else was excellent.
“Exceeded our expectations and made us feel like family.”
The location, views, and howler monkeys were fantastic. A family‑owned place run with loving care and kindness, and the Nico breakfast was good too. The only downside was the lack of hot water.
“Einfache ,richtig nicaraguanische Unterkunft!”
If you’re after authentic Nicaragua away from the crowds, this place is ideal. We came from the very touristy Laguna Apoyo and found peace among toucans and monkeys in the trees; nights were truly dark. The simple Nicaraguan breakfast was lovingly prepared by the house mother each morning. The bed was very comfortable, even with a proper duvet. From the breakfast terrace you could see the lagoon from above. The self‑service kitchen was well equipped. Walking or taking the three‑wheeled taxis gets you to the Pueblos Blancos. We had no vehicle but felt completely at ease. The room had no window, using the door as a makeshift opening. You could only sit on the bed or in the kitchen, and the space was filled with a double and a loft bed.
The friendly reception and the helpfulness of the operators stood out. The rooms were spacious, not too hot, quiet, and offered a lovely view of the lagoon. You could wander calmly and watch howler monkeys. It was also nice that a family member spoke English and could teach you pottery! The breakfast was plentiful, but could use more variety and fresher fruit if staying several nights.
The people were very friendly. Not bad.
