We spent a night at the Byzantino Hotel, and both the reception and breakfast staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. Our Junior Suite—a lovely duplex room in the castle town—was clean, spacious, and conveniently located right near the main entrance of Monemvasia. However, it started raining in the middle of the night and the roof leaked in two places, making the floor slippery and forcing us to use bathroom towels to dry it.

Staying in a renovated, dispersed hotel room within the walled town was a unique experience. The room with a balcony offered a lovely view, and the breakfast at the hotel’s nearby cafe was superb. I would have loved to extend my stay for a second or third night.

We were in a fabulous spot right at the bell tower, and the balcony views were excellent—high enough that you couldn’t hear the people below. The property felt so historical you could imagine living in that era, yet it still offered modern amenities 😏 Constantina at the front office was excellent and very supportive! Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety. In the room, the AC was a bit challenging and slow, and the furniture could use a thorough cleaning or polishing—though I understand they’re antique. No fault of the hotel, but it would have been nicer if the walk up and down from the castle didn’t compete with vehicles, especially with construction. A nice walkway on the other side of the lights would be amazing…
