“Clean, quiet, confortable stay”
It was a quiet homestay in a calm neighborhood, and the host—who doesn’t speak English but tried hard to make our stay memorable—was very nice. We stayed four nights in the deluxe room (two double beds) that had its own private bathroom, fridge, sink, and an adjoining room with two bunk beds, giving us plenty of space. The fully equipped kitchen was shared, and basic breakfast options like instant coffee, bread, eggs, rice, and noodles were available. Overall, we found it good value for the price. If you’re only staying briefly, keep in mind that the area is nice but a bit out of the city center. The homestay is close to the cable car, but it’s a 20‑minute walk to the main town area. Buses are easy to catch and bring you closer to the action and the ferry terminal. We chose to dine in town every night because the restaurants seemed more interesting. Walking back was fine; we felt safe and used the tunnel many times, but after a long day of visiting, buses seemed a better option.
