Everyone can see from the pictures that the hotel was built several decades ago, and if that’s not an issue for you, you’ll find a well‑maintained property where details like taps look newer than in many younger hotels; it’s not shabby, everything works well, nothing looks worn, and the bed was very good. The breakfast is decent for a small appetite in Italy, but if you’re after a rich buffet with eggs, baked ham, sausages, etc., this place isn’t it. I didn’t spot an elevator. The air conditioning worked fine, as did everything else. The view from my room isn’t worth mentioning. From the hotel you can reach the pedestrian zone in the city centre in less than a minute by walking up the stairs in front of the building. In a few decades the Hotel Mariani could be considered a historical classic, but it’s probably too early for that now.

The location is close to the centre, but the outdoor parking wasn’t marked as paid; when we found another covered spot we were surprised to be asked to pay, which was only communicated to us by email after our arrival.
