“Der Ansatz ist nicht schlecht, das war es aber dann auch schon”

It was clean and conveniently located for our purposes. The hotel seems to have been newly renovated, which is fine in itself, but it lacks warmth and soul everywhere. The rooms and the breakfast area are very uncomfortable and austere, and the odd 60s‑era pictures in the foyer do not help. Everything feels deliberately but not skillfully done. Perhaps the owners believe a city hotel should look like this. For us it was functional and just okay for sleeping, but we wouldn't stay there for long. Heartless and bleak.

I stayed in a fresh new family room that looked great, but the mattresses were far too soft and there was no fridge in the room.

The local breakfast dishes were delicious and the reception staff were genuinely kind, and the overall service around the hotel was excellent, though parking in the garage is tough for large cars, so you might have to park your SUV or long sedan on the street instead.
