The food was amazing, but the pool bar was closed even though the sign said it was open.

The animals at the resort and on the beach were lovely. Breakfast was the worst part of our stay in Whisthundays, with too few options; the coffee was in a big thermos and the tables weren’t cleared, as if there was a lack of staff.

The two restaurants had quality menus, but the Infinity Restaurant was pricey. Breakfast was below standard, with hot food going cold; the resort was poorly maintained, with weeds between pavers and dirty walls. We paid $642 per night, yet the room didn’t match that price, and the only redeeming factor was the location.

It’s a nice family resort and the room was comfortable. The food was probably the weak point: limited healthy options, smaller portions for the price, most mains over $35, pizzas $38, the gift shop closes at 4 pm, the coffee bar closes at 11 am; a piece of fruit or a fruit platter, maybe a cheese platter, would have been nice, but hey, you’re on an island!
