Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam, a unique boutique hotel, sits on the IJ river where ships once departed for Jakarta. The hotel features 200 luxurious rooms with Indonesian-inspired decor. Guests enjoy breakfast at Café Jakarta, drinks at sky bar Malabar, and relaxation in the wellness center and pool overlooking the river. Located 1.2 km from the central station and 1.5 km from the main shopping area.

The natural‑inspired décor was lovely, and the balcony on the room was a real highlight. Nothing else to mention.

The Jakarta hotel feels elegant without being elitist and makes sustainability look effortless. We loved the restaurant food, there was always enough breakfast even when arriving late, and supper in the restaurant was lovely too. The restaurant staff—from the chefs to the maitre d’—were happy and friendly, making the environment a pleasure. The bakery was also lovely for lunch. Our room was very comfortable and had fabulous views over the bridge and the river, especially stunning at night. We appreciated the location being a bit outside the city so we could unwind after a day of adventures and enjoy the spa, which stayed open until 10 pm. The only thing my daughter would raise a point about was the bath and shower lacking a door. It’s fine for couples (the loo has a door), but a teenage daughter traveling with a parent found it a bit too open for her taste.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was very good! It’s just a bit of a walk from the tram stop, which can be tough if you’re lugging a lot of luggage.

The location is excellent, close to the central railway station and cruise terminals, and the ground‑floor café offers a convenient buffet breakfast and a‑la‑carta dinner. The room’s interior design felt a touch outdated, but that’s the only reason I gave it 9/10.
