Nestled in Nikko’s tranquil forests, Nikko Park Lodge Mountain Side provides cozy rooms with large windows overlooking the woods, free Wi‑Fi, and both private and dormitory options. A free shuttle links the lodge to Tobu Nikko Station (10 min). Guests enjoy on‑site lounge amenities, breakfast and dinner, and easy access to hiking trails, natural hot‑spring baths, Toshogu Shrine, and the Urushi Museum.

Nikko Park Mountain Lodge feels friendly and relaxed, with very helpful staff and a comfortable lounge. The building and rooms themselves were a bit worn.

The place is far from the station but surrounded by nature. The smoking area, including staff, is at the entrance, so smoke drifts inside. A rude foreigner was noisy late at night outside, and I had to intervene. Sounds from the dining room, outside work, and the front desk seeped into the room, so it wasn’t quiet. The washroom was a very small space inside the toilet, which I disliked, and the odor was fairly strong.

I left as soon as I could. (The bed‑bug problem far outweighs any potential positives I could give this place) I found multiple bed bugs in my bed! This is completely unacceptable and completely ruined my one‑night stay; I left early in the morning.

The owner lady was amazing, friendly and welcoming, and she speaks English which is great. The common areas were beautiful, there were guitars so we played and sang. There’s also a beer vending machine :) I recommend paying extra for breakfast and dinner, the food is cooked very well. This hostel is, so far, the best in terms of value for money that I’ve ever been to. It’s a bit far from the center, you have to walk up a hill, but nothing serious. From the hostel to the evening spot it’s just a 10‑minute walk up the hill. Most of the guitars had a broken neck or were missing a tuning peg or strings. Only one was playable.

The breakfast and dinner were very tasty, and the staff were kind and warm, making my stay very comfortable. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you!
