Papago International Resort, in Chishang Township, offers an outdoor pool, hot tub, and hot spring, along with a spa and recreation centre. The resort is a 10-minute drive from Chishang Train Station and an hour's drive from Taitung Airport. Brightly decorated rooms and villas with kitchenettes feature balconies, free internet, and flat-screen TVs, surrounded by gardens and pools.

I was staying next to Pool Boulevard and the room had a private pool and a hot spring, which was super comfy. The shower area, however, had no towel rack, which felt odd because I couldn't figure out how to hang my towel.

The place was clean, the location was good, and the pool was nice. The sauna was too small.

The spot was spot on – I could rent a bike early and stroll through the fields without driving. What I didn’t like was the value for money: the bathroom showed obvious signs of age with leaking water and yellowed rubber strips, and on a weekday I wasn’t told about the national travel discount, which made the experience feel bad. The price differed whether I booked through the platform or by phone.
