“Good position with so much potential”

The room was decent, with a comfy bed and a tidy bathroom, and they offered basic tea and coffee. The shared kitchen was well supplied, and the spot was nicely positioned about halfway along the Catlins on the main road, plus they had good pizzas. However, there was no TV signal, and outside the rooms the building looked neglected, with mess on the verandahs and in the gardens, so it has a lot of potential but needs a makeover to look better.

The staff were very accommodating and even kept the restaurant open for us when we arrived early in the evening, and the beds were super comfy.

“Good to stay for a night on your way somewhere else.”

The location is excellent, super remote, and has the potential to be a really great place to stay, but we have stayed here before and it’s just so run down; there’s a lot of work desperately needed and it’s missing any of those nice touches to make the place feel nice, so I wouldn’t have wanted to spend more than a night here.

The location was very good, a nice place to see the stars, and the space was good; it was nice to have a kitchen in the room, but they overcharged me for the dogs— the website says the cleaning fee for each dog is $25, yet they charged me $35, so I checked their website, asked for a refund, and they were not transparent, so keep an eye on this if traveling with pets. It was so cold I could see my breath, so make sure you request extra heaters if traveling in winter, and the pillows were stained, likely due to age, but it’s something they should easily replace.
