Storrs Hall Hotel sits on 17 acres of private grounds beside Lake Windermere in Bowness-on-Windermere, offering quintessential Lake District charm. Housed in a Grade II* listed country‑house, most rooms overlook the lake or manicured gardens. Two restaurants serve an informal menu and a fixed‑price four‑course tasting, complemented by traditional English afternoon tea, and a classic pub‑style bar.

We have visited before, a wonderful house, great location, superb food and very courteous staff. The hotel, and apparently many other hotels in the Lake District, now apply a 5% service charge on the hotel bill. At check‑out, that came as a surprise, so our tipping for dinner had not been necessary in hindsight.

The location was awesome and the hotel was like a museum filled with art and history. Very friendly staff. Good variety of breakfast options. Some stains on the carpet and the bathroom had some issues which were mentioned but I don’t believe anything was done about it before we left.

The suite was amazing—stunning views all around the hotel and a calm atmosphere. The only downside was the long wait for breakfast.

Considering our room was a standard double with a lake view, it certainly felt very up market. The hotel is superbly located on the side of Lake Windermere, with gardens and outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy the views. Views of the gardens from our room were stunning. The bar was well stocked and the Bistro restaurant was divine. I'd thoroughly recommend a stay we certainly plan another visit soon
