“Charming hisrotic property with wonderfull staff, but the room amenities could use an upgrade.”

The historic house had plenty of charm and character, and the back rooms we stayed in were adequate while the staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, there was no fridge or microwave in the room, and the hair dryer was seriously outdated and took forever to dry my hair; for the price we paid, I expected a few more basic amenities.

“Not what I was expecting!”

The main building is a historic house with an interesting history, and the decor reflects this with old‑fashioned furnishings in the public areas. But the rooms are not in the pictured building; they’re in a very boring, motel‑type building tacked onto the back, which was an unpleasant discovery. There was no staff—check‑in, check‑out, and everything else were handled by email. My key was taped to the door for me when I arrived in the early evening, which felt very odd and impersonal.

The location is pretty good, but the mattress was very soft and saggy, so we kept rolling from side to middle.

The location is beautiful and historic, but breakfast was the major downfall. No staff were on site in the morning to prepare the coffee machine, so my husband had to fill it and plug it in himself. There weren’t enough paper plates, napkins, or utensils; we had to share one plastic knife among the four of us. Fortunately this is an easy remedy, and then we would be able to upgrade our review.

I was very disappointed. The hotel was very outdated.
