“Beware of booking here”
The place sits nicely above the hill of Chefchauen, and the view is pretty. We enjoyed a nice evening meal on the property. The check‑in went smoothly at first, but things fell apart after that. At 10 pm the owners woke us up and told us we had to leave because they’d double‑booked and wanted to put other guests in our room. We spent two hours in heated, stressful talks as the reasons for the mix‑up kept changing—new owners, a new manager, an employee supposedly stealing booking money—none of which explained why we should leave before the other guests even arrived. The owners’ brother, who was trying to force us out, also got involved. They threatened to call the authorities if we didn’t leave and offered us a stay at a neighbouring property, but wouldn’t refund our payment for the night and said we’d have to pay an extra, unconfirmed price for the alternative. The next morning, with help from bookings.com, the rest of our booking was cancelled and refunded because of the situation. When we left, the owners tried to make us pay extra to cover the cost of moving the other guests to another hotel. We told them that was ridiculous and that we would report them to the tourist police, but they said this had happened many times before and that the police would do nothing. Don’t book here or on their other listing ‘Haven Hills Chaouen’—the pictures are exactly the same. Check the negative comments too.
The owner was a fascinating person—knowledgeable and helpful. Watching the sun set over the mountain and the lights slowly turn on in the town from below Chefchaouen was fantastic. Getting there was a bit odd, but the drive was worth it. I understand the road will be finished soon. Overall, a beautiful stay.
“Nous ne conseillons pas cet endroit. Désolé”
The meals and breakfasts were average. The common areas and rooms were very cold. We were supposed to stay two nights, but because of the poor comfort we only stayed one night and the host refused to refund us for the second night.
The view was good and the accommodation was quite decent. The new owner was very attentive and the service was impeccable. There was also an option to dine on site for 125 dirhams. In reality, the owner changed without us knowing. The former owner had already collected the rent a few days before our arrival. The new owner obviously didn’t recognise the reservation, but he accepted to house us for the same price. So we ended up paying twice! 😡 That said, he is very pleasant and caring. The lodging is very good but far from the centre and accessed via a rough dirt road. The view, however, is splendid.
The view was very nice. In the accommodation room there was a fireplace, but it was never lit. Guests froze while the landlord just watched.
