The location was stunning, and the main house plus extra guest rooms had plenty of character and nice touches like robes and slippers. The morning receptionist seemed annoyed by a taxi request, and more trail signage would help— the map was a bit hard to use for hiking. That said, the main house was easy to keep in sight, so wandering around without much guidance wasn’t too hard.

The winery was fantastic, full of beautiful, intriguing details, and Eduardo proved to be an excellent wine guide. However, the #1 room was noisy, lacked a full-length mirror, the bathroom lighting was too dim for makeup, the sheets felt rough, and the bed was uncomfortable.

The vistas, fellow guests, staff, location, facilities, and overall experience were superb for anyone craving a peaceful escape from the urban buzz of Portugal. My husband follows a strict diet, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate his restrictions—something that can be tough while traveling—and we appreciated that extra care. Getting there can be a bit tricky depending on your arrival method, but the staff excel at coordinating transport during your stay.
