Headlam Hall Hotel & Rural Retreat

Breakfast was fine, quite early for a Sunday morning, everything was finished by 10.00. Some of the fruit had all gone. The room was well equipped, clean and well presented. What we didn’t appreciate and wasn’t clear on the booking was that our room was not located in the main hotel but in a converted annex. As it happened it all worked fine; we were only having a short stay seeing friends locally so didn’t stay in the hotel for long. It wasn’t made clear to us on the booking that our room was actually not in the hotel but in a converted annex. The room was clean and well equipped; however it would have been nice to have known before arrival. Fortunately we were only there for a short period of time; however if visiting for the weekend would advise you check you are in the main hotel.

Beautiful period elegance. Small bed, way too hot on the third floor with only one tiny window for ventilation. One window didn’t open at all. At 9.30 not much left at the continental breakfast.

Spacious hall,lovely and big grounds for walking. 10% charge added to your food bill and only mention it voluntary when you pay

The location is superb with beautiful gardens and a terrace for drinks overlooking the garden or the golf course. Excellent breakfast. Staff were really accommodating and the food and choice was excellent. Extra points for replying promptly to emails before the stay and help booking dinner both at the hotel (excellent!) and at their sister pub (also excellent!). Although quiet and peaceful, with lots of space, there are activities on site. Even have EV chargers. Nearby plenty of things to do and interesting places to visit. The spa and swimming pool need booking and are charged extra

“Great relaxed venue with spa and golf course ( 9Holes)”

The facilities and grounds are fantastic, though a bit pricey in terms of £. Our room stayed very warm because there was no air conditioning.
