“Very quiet and comfortable”
A very nice old house, lovely people, good shower. The toilet was very slow to fill.

Woodhill House, a 17th‑century coastal manor on Wood Road, sits amid manicured gardens and a historic walled garden, just 0.8 km from Donegal’s sea and 0.4 km from Ardara’s center. The family‑run country house offers comfortable rooms, a cozy bar with an open fireplace, a restaurant serving fresh local fare, and a tranquil, traditional Irish welcome.

We were upgraded to the main house. The view of the hills was great. It was comfortable and just a short walk from town. Breakfast was good. Helen, who chatted with us while making breakfast, was an excellent host. The décor could use a refresh.

The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was pleasant and high quality, and there’s an inside bar for a beer. The place is a bit removed from the city. Unfortunately, the old-fashioned style doesn’t match the high prices: the bedding feels a bit dated and uncomfortable, the wooden sliding window doesn’t seal well, the carpet looks questionable, and the bathroom is impractical. At €80 it would be acceptable, but €330 for two nights is not.

Breakfast was excellent. The room was a bit musty and had quite a few cobwebs.

The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, the plugs were close to the bed, and the food was excellent—overall a major plus, though the place felt a bit dated, which didn’t bother us much.
