The pool was great and the kids loved it, and the hotel was close enough that you could walk pretty much anywhere in town. One day during an exercise class they didn’t move the shallow end, so the kids couldn’t play where they could touch; they could have easily held the class in the 4‑5 foot deep section for all adults.

I liked the flower baskets, the pool towels, and sitting on the balcony outside room 21.

They have the best hot spring waters I’ve found, and I saw physical healing changes I hadn’t noticed before (I’ve come here intermittently since the 1990s). It’s quite a bit more expensive now (~$450 for 2 nights), but that’s normal, and I still think it’s worth it.

I booked with my wife and our 3‑year‑old because most New Mexico hot springs don’t allow kids, so this place was a win. The large pool was just right for the toddler, and the regulars—mostly locals—were all very friendly to us. The hotel sits right next to the Pagosa Springs Visitor Center, downtown, the city park, and a short hike up Reservoir Hill, which is super convenient. Room #21 was a bit pricey, but it was spacious, comfortable, and spotless.
