They were warm and the house itself was clean. We were eight people sharing a bathroom, and the geyser was tiny so we ran out of hot water and had to take cold showers; there was only one iron that didn’t even steam. One of the ladies we were with burned her skirt on that iron, and they only have the cheapest iron available, so they should buy newer ones.

The place was available, but it felt like a contractor’s guest house. The toilet seat wasn’t connected, so my wife kept sliding side to side. Cleanliness was doubtful, and the owner’s threats were the icing on the cake. He accused me of running a business on the premises, even though I don’t know anyone else in Meyerton. He treated my wife like dirt, we arrived and the bell didn’t work so we shouted for help at the gate, and he scolded us like kids. When we said we’d go elsewhere he smiled and said he already had our money.
