The apartment’s equipment was adequate, the rooms were clean, there were plenty of towels, and the bathtub in the bathroom was above standard. For check‑in we parked our car at the parking lot behind the housing estate, just past the back fence. We handed the keys to the owner and mentioned where we parked and that we would move our stuff from there. Because we would have to re‑park the car, then drive around the housing estate (a one‑way street), and there was a risk someone might take the spot while we were moving, this was the simplest option for us. However, as we started passing our bags with items over the wall near the children’s swings (where our kids were), the owner’s husband/partner (?) appeared and began yelling at us, asking what we thought we were allowed to do by opening the back gate. We did not manipulate the back gate, nor did we touch the wall or fence, and we told him that. That did not help; he continued with verbal aggression, calling us fools, saying we didn’t re‑park the car and were moving things that way. We could not understand this behavior and do not recall experiencing anything like it at any other accommodation. We do not believe we violated any conditions or good manners. Even if we had, it could have been pointed out calmly, not with shouting and insults. I understand that someone might have a bad day and explode, but we would have expected some apology or clarification. Nothing of that sort happened. During the rest of the stay we were worried that the man would again scold us for something. We preferred to stay away from the common areas and the garden. Another complaint: I don’t understand why the owner requires a copy of the ID when everywhere else it’s enough to write the number. I don’t understand why we had the apartment locked on one side when we locked it on both.
