The people who welcomed us were friendly. The food was carefully prepared. Prices were reasonable and the yurts were very distinctive. The only issue was that the clean sheets had to be hung before the covers were laid.

The family was very friendly and helpful. They arranged for a driver to pick us up in Bukhara and then drive us to Samarkand. Abdullah took us to Aydar lake, a beautiful place where you can swim! The food is tasty and reasonably priced. We were included in a local celebration in the village, and the camp felt truly authentic. There was no water in the shower, but that was kind of expected in the desert. The toilets were nice and always working!

The dinner was good. Everything else was terrible. First, it was very remote and there was no reception. When I asked if card payment was available, I received no answer. At arrival we were greeted with little words; the family speaks no English. The yurt cannot be closed and the smell – it smells like wet camel and manure. The beds are rock-hard and the bedding is musty. Only the dinner was good but we almost froze. In the evening there was music by the fire, and the musician demanded tips. They have several camels that are not kept in humane conditions. In the largest camel they shoved a stick into its nose, causing pain every time it was pulled on the rope; the other camel had its legs tied together. Breakfast was very scanty and unappetizing. After a sleepless night we left disappointed. The shower was not appealing enough to use.

It was a unique experience with a beautiful sunset, but we never got a chance to chat with the family because they ate dinner alone.
