It looked cute and was very basic; the owner and staff worked hard to accommodate us, but local animals roamed freely. The heat was extreme – 45 °C during the day (33 °C at 2 am!) – and two fans did little; an AC would help. The door threshold was low, so you hit your head, and the place felt like a work in progress, more like a building site, so we ended up moving to another room.

The hut was pretty friendly, with fans to cool the air and a comfy bed. The simple original service was fine. The shared bathroom was shaky, the water was cold but not a problem, and the staff were nice. What was missing were tables in front of each hut for shade and hammocks like the ones next to the bungalows, and it was a bit far from the port.

I liked the location because I wanted something a bit farther away, until I noticed the construction. The cabin and garden are lovely with all the animals around, and the bed is fairly comfortable. Inside there's a large space to lock suitcases and backpacks, but you need padlocks for that and for the door. The family is a bunch of lovely people. I also rented a bike at a good price. You can make instant coffee; they have a kettle, but there's no refill water! In Don Det you can refill for 5000 kips with cold water. The mosquito net had so many holes it was useless. The bathroom was disgusting: the lid wouldn't stay up and it was very dirty; I had to fix it with a cloth and they did nothing. I also cleaned it because it couldn't stay that way. The shower hose was broken. The bathroom is about 30 meters across the road, so going there at night is not very comfortable. Unfortunately, they're building a house behind the cabins, starting at 6 am and ending at night; during the day it's not a good place to be. I hope they improve this because it's a great spot and these are easy fixes to reach 10 points. I understand they have to finish the construction, but they also need to remember we're on vacation and say that at least.
