I booked Casa Zen for my parents who were in Mexico for a concert at the Teatro Cedrus, but the experience was terrible from the start: they struggled to get past the gate because the owner supposedly owed years of administration, had to argue with the guard and even climb the fence to enter. Once inside, no one greeted them or gave proper directions, only telling them the room was at the back. The room was in deplorable condition—no curtains, only tape on the windows, windows that wouldn’t close properly and had to be secured with a stick, and an extremely dirty, poorly maintained bathroom. It’s outrageous and unacceptable to pay 40 USD (they don’t even charge in Mexican pesos) for a room in those conditions.
