There’s a place to eat nearby, the station is just steps away and the location is superb, the property felt extremely clean, the bathroom and toilet were separate allowing a relaxing soak, and I’d definitely use it again when I’m back in Kokura; I have no complaints.

The hotel’s location right in front of the station was handy and the low price was a plus, plus the kitchen was stocked with a knife and cutting board which I appreciated. However, even though four of us were sharing a single room, there were only two comforters and we had to go out to find an extra one.

The gear and facilities impressed me and the staffed front desk made check‑in quick. On the downside, the EV guide and the in‑room instructions conflicted about the smoking policy.

The pictures didn’t convey how small the place actually is, and coming from Japan I found the completely unmanned service everywhere extremely inconvenient. While drying my hair, the dryer sparked at the junction of the body and cord, nearly burning me, and when I called the emergency number they said the staff were all busy and couldn’t fetch a replacement from another room.

The room was spotless and very clean, yet the overall experience was marred by other guests’ lack of courtesy and the hotel’s service. Right after checking in the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, which seeped into our room and lingered into the next day despite us reporting it, leaving us feeling uncomfortable after paying a high price.
