“Ruhig und friedlich am Schloss”
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The grout in the shower could have been cleaner.

Value for money was awful. Apart from being near the castle, everything else was very, very bad. The price was absurd, cleanliness a joke, and the facilities were star‑less.

The hotel’s proximity to the castle and gardens is great, but they refused to give me breakfast even though it was listed in the description. The equipment feels low‑grade, cleanliness is poor, and the whole building smells musty.

The only thing worth mentioning is the location. Everything else feels like it’s been run down.

Our room faced the rear and north side, so it stayed quiet and pleasantly cool despite the summer heat, and the owners and staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive and helpful, making us feel welcome from the first moment; the bathroom was decently sized and generally well‑equipped, though it could have used a bit more care in cleaning and upkeep, especially around the shower where glass, grout and floor showed clear lime and wear marks and the rubber seals on the doors no longer held water, and the towel radiator had some discoloration, plus a hair‑dryer would have been handy. We liked the storage spots in the room and shower and the socket in the bathroom, the adjustable shower head worked smoothly and hot water arrived quickly in ample supply, the beds were truly excellent – we slept soundly and woke up without back pain, which matters a lot to us. The room also contained a fridge with a small freezer compartment, perfect for a couple of ice packs, and the wall‑mounted TV sat at a comfortable height and could be moved, which we appreciated. Breakfast was extensive and varied, offering everything from muesli, yogurt, cold cuts and cheese, breads, toast and rolls to eggs, fruit, vegetables, juice, tea, coffee and sweets, leaving nothing wanted, and we also enjoyed the dining‑room atmosphere. The tram stop Schaumburgstraße for lines 4 and 5 was a short walk around the corner, taking you straight into Hannover’s centre, and the Herrenhäuser Gardens were a pleasant ten‑minute stroll away. On the downside, a few more power outlets would have been useful – there was none beside the bed, so I had to unplug my bedside lamp to charge my phone, and we couldn’t find any at the desk either; a couple of extra wall hooks would have helped for hanging clothes or a towel to dry, even though a wardrobe is present. The room itself felt compact; the desk already had a chair, and there was no space for a second one.
