Location excellent. Breakfast great. Staff friendly. Bar and public lounge good. The room is very small, has no TV, and needs upgrading. Food in the restaurant is average.

Always a warm welcome and very friendly staff. Nothing negative.

Location, staff were lovely and the food and drinks were great. The view from the dining room is really good. The dining chairs are a little hard, and if the sun is out you get baked in there – not that we were complaining about having sunshine!

The location is great and the historic building is attractive, with an excellent restaurant, but the rooms are small and the bathroom feels narrow.

The location was perfect, the history was lovely, and the view was nice in the morning and evening. The rooms were small and cosy. The hotel has been bought by two Americans, Myrrha Satow and Clinton Satow, who have no connection to the island. They never stay there themselves and seem to want to know what business they run and what moral principles and issues lie behind it. They bought it to combine it with other hotels in Scotland as a buy‑and‑build private‑equity investment. All management is outsourced, and nothing is being invested. It’s sad: they use the location to squeeze customers who have no choice, alienated the island community who hates them, and the islanders no longer want to use the hotel as a pub. They’ve created many unhappy customers who feel trapped into eating and sleeping in a place that isn’t right. Shame on the owners. On top of that, all staff are seasonal and managed by a horrible manager who is the exact opposite of a Swiss hotelier school‑educated type. Honestly it’s catastrophic.
