The staff were nice, the place was clean, and it was close to town, but I could hear the next door and loud noises when people closed the hallway door, and the bed wasn’t soft, leaving me with a sore back after a night’s sleep.

The bed, pillows, and blankets were comfy, the heater worked well, and there were hooks and good lighting, but I’d have preferred a room with a sink.

The location, rooms, and space were great; downstairs felt a bit chilly in September, but overall it was quiet. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, and the stove made quick cooking easy, though I didn’t try the smart oven. A pre‑arrival message told me the nearest supermarket was in Greymouth, which was useful since I’m traveling around New Zealand by InterCity bus for three months and can easily overlook details, so I brought a few groceries for my short stay. It was really good value for the money.
