“Pleasant stay”
The room is spacious, the staff are very helpful, and dinner was enjoyable. I later learned that breakfast was only continental and that a cooked breakfast cost extra. The bed was old and very squeaky.

The Roundabout Hotel, a converted Tudor house in West Chiltington, boasts secluded gardens surrounded by South Downs hills and tall trees. The hotel serves fine, traditionally-twisted food with locally-sourced ingredients. Individually designed rooms feature toiletries, free WiFi, and flat-screen TVs. Located between Pulborough and Storrington, it's 40 minutes from Gatwick Airport and 45 minutes from central London via the A23 and A24.

The place is pretty, but when we got there we had to wait 25 minutes for anyone at reception; we eventually found the lady in the restaurant who seems to handle everything. The key for room 110 was really hard to use to open the door.

I was drawn to the building’s quirky turrets and the maze of rooms below, and the downstairs décor felt comfortably old‑fashioned with leather armchairs, while the bedroom had wooden furniture and cushions. The common areas were warm, but the bedroom radiators barely turned on, so it stayed a bit chilly. Some of the throw cushions on the bed were worn, showing watermarks, and the bathroom still had a previous guest’s toothpaste in the pot! Cleanliness overall was solid—no suspicious stains in the sink, toilet, or shower, and the towels and bed linen were fresh. The shower delivered good pressure and was easy to use.

The room was excellent, the location was perfect for our needs, and the price was reasonable.

I stayed with family for one night and enjoyed a lovely meal at the restaurant—no complaints. The staff were chatty and friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. The location was very quiet with no roundabout nearby. However, our room on the first floor of the main building, 105, was next to kitchen extractor fans that turned on just after 7 am on a Sunday, waking us with a dull droning noise; staff arriving after 7 am were not noisy, but you could hear everyone chatting word for word. Since breakfast didn’t start until 8 am, perhaps the fans could stay off until closer to 8.
