The hotel was excellent, and the staff’s service was outstanding—very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our bus tickets to Kanazawa, and the staff assisted us fully; one team member even accompanied us to the terminal and stayed until we boarded the bus. We’re truly grateful.

Perched atop the castle town, the shuttle service was a real help for bus or train travel. The staff were nice, the dinner and breakfast were exquisite, and the view was great.

Clean, close to the castle and town, and the breakfast was excellent with very nice staff. I wish there was an onsen.

The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. What really made our stay special was the staff—everyone was friendly, helpful, and eager to recommend places to visit. A special thank you to Mr. Yasuda for his kindness and assistance throughout our stay.

Hotel Sekisuien is an upscale property perched on a hill toward Gujo Hachiman castle. The rooms are exceptionally large by Japanese standards, and the soaking tub in ours was a welcome treat after walking around town and up to the castle. The multi-course breakfast was delicious, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The limited shuttle between the town center and the highway bus stop was a plus. However, the hotel’s high hill location means only obstructed views of the castle roof and the town below, with only partial mountain views. The biggest drawback is the lack of a walk‑in restaurant on site or nearby; the only option, unless you book the kaiseki dinner in advance, is to walk down or take a taxi into town and back again. Bad weather—like the passing typhoon we experienced—made choices very limited. Overall, it’s an upscale option, but we think better value can be found closer to the town center.
