“Good location, bed n breakfast. Disappointing dinner and micro aggression from host let host down.”
You can come and go freely, and the kitchen is available for hot drinks. We paid for breakfast and dinner but didn’t get what we paid for. The host said his wife had messed up the booking and dinner wasn’t included. We were willing to move because we specifically wanted half‑board, but it was later agreed that dinner would be cooked each day during breakfast and we could reheat it in the evening. My mother is in her 80s and we had come from the UK, both exhausted and very hungry; it wasn’t what we expected to be told there would be no dinner until the next evening. I brought food from a local restaurant for our first night, which wasn’t part of the plan. What we received was a half‑cut fish to share, accompanied by hard food for two dinners and curried mutton that was mostly bones rather than meat for the remaining four dinners. The mutton was mass‑cooked on the second day and reheated over the week. We didn’t anticipate such limited portions for what we paid. The host was very micro‑aggressive, making the stay uncomfortable and awkward at times. His wife made the stay more relaxed, which helped. We were told not to use certain mugs even though they were available (why not just remove them?). On the last day we chose not to eat dinner because it was again defrosted mutton; the host offered us a boiled egg, which felt more insulting than anything. Overall, if the dinner service was unavailable at the price paid, it would have been better to be told upfront and allowed to relocate. Instead, we were made to feel the stay was a favor, even though we paid. I left my tripod at the property and arranged for it to be collected; we met in St Ann Bay, and the host was again micro‑aggressive when handing it back in a set position after it had been used without my consent. Very uncomfortable and awkward while retrieving my tripod.
