The house was beautifully and elegantly restored. The staff were kind and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The skin products were really good.

The hotel is housed in a more than 150‑year‑old merchant house, preserving all the old details, including a large kitchen with rice cookers. The staff are friendly and attentive. A late checkout at 12:00 lets you wander the town (which was pretty empty when we were there, no shops open). The hotel is frankly a level below its sister in Nara (see my comment) both in building beauty and dining. On top of that, our waitress kept sniffing because she had a cold, which was almost intolerable while we were seated.

The interior is pretty. The renovated samurai house is comfortable and the staff are sugar‑friendly. There is a parking spot at the door. The coffee is not good (only instant coffee) even though there is a coffee roaster and shop on the premises… the place really doesn’t offer much.
