The hotel was mostly clean. My husband and I chose it for the night after our wedding, paying almost 65 000 UAH for four nights, and we expected at least a decent breakfast for that price. Last year we stayed at a nearby hotel with a wonderful buffet breakfast and a rate three times lower; we never imagined this place would be different. Breakfast here was a single dish from the “Breakfast” menu, far too small for two adults, and the waiter told us the price covered that dish, one hot drink and one cold drink; after we ate and returned to the room, the same waiter chased us with “hey, you need to pay”. He later explained that not all cold drinks are included, but nobody had mentioned that. Apart from reception, the staff looked at us like we were a nuisance, which is odd given we’d spent a small fortune on a honeymoon. If you travel with kids, be aware of the noisy disco on Red Lane that can be heard in the rooms, making sleep difficult. Having stayed in a much cheaper hotel before, our room felt like a dormitory—no cockroaches, but no TV either, very basic. After this trip we have no desire to return to Odesa.
