Friendly staff, good location and price

“Good location and clean, smart room”
Parking is free and easy, and getting to the rooms from the rear entrance is straightforward. The room and bathroom were clean and nice, and the staff were mostly helpful. I would have appreciated someone offering to help with my bags; the attendant guided me down the stairs while I struggled with a suitcase, a heavy backpack, and a clothes carrier, carrying the room key. The room was absolutely baking hot because the sun was shining on it. Some curtains were closed but others were open, making it unbearably hot. I asked for a fan and they did provide one, though it was rather weak. I understand the weather has been unusually hot, but the room could have been kept cooler.
“Pleasant”
The bedrooms were lovely and in a perfect location. The shower had no pressure, the staff weren’t present, and it was hard to communicate with them. Checking in was problematic because the room keys weren’t working.

The location is great. Nothing else.
“Nice building but don’t stay!!”
It’s an old building in a good location. The bed sloped backwards toward the headboard. The TV was mounted on the wall at an angle and was very small. The window wouldn’t open easily and would close on its own. There was no air conditioning, so it was hot; I had to leave the window open for a breeze, which made it super noisy from the high street. The shower delivered a pitiful dribble of lukewarm water. The building is lovely but has been badly renovated by people who didn’t respect its history or do the work with class and sympathy. It also freaked out over curry. In the morning I was locked in and had to escape via a fire exit.

The room was historic and pleasant, and the hotel cooks curry’s that were really nice. A SUPER stay! The only downside is that it doesn’t offer breakfast, but Greg’s is around the corner.
