The location is amazing, right on Sairee beach which I think is the best beach for kids in Koh Tao, others are deep and or rocky. The pools were absolutely beautiful, warm and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn't that great, exact same food everyday and not the best

The location is perfect! Our stay at Seashell Resort Koh Tao turned out to be by far one of the most disappointing hotel experiences on our Thailand trip. From the moment we arrived it was anything but welcoming. We were neither greeted nor welcomed at the reception; the first and only word from the staff was simply “PASSPORT!”. That surprised us, because in Thailand we had experienced hospitality and friendliness in a very different way. Unfortunately that impression carried through the entire stay. Both at the reception and during breakfast we found the staff extremely unfriendly and uninterested. Our room was generally nice and spacious, but the bathroom was in an unacceptable condition for us. Black mold covered the walls from floor to almost ceiling. In a hotel room we don’t think such a thing should happen. The pool was so dirty during our stay that we didn’t want or could use it. That’s especially disappointing for a resort on Koh Tao. Breakfast was very sparse even for simple Thai hotel standards. Some dishes seemed far from fresh; the chicken nuggets, for example, tasted as if they were already several days old. Because of these experiences we decided to leave a night earlier. We were especially disappointed that the hotel seemed not to care at all about this. No one asked why we were leaving early, nor if there were any problems during our stay. Afterwards we filed a complaint. The hotel promised us a refund for the unused last night, but we have not received it to this day. Despite repeated inquiries we have not received any further feedback.
