Hôtel Oré, Saint-Malo

“It is a convenient place to stay for St Malo. I would certainly stay again.”

The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were pleasant, parking was great which was the main reason I chose this hotel because my camper van is too tall for many underground car parks in St Malo; it was quiet and relaxing, they have a lovely dining and seating area with some outdoor seating, the location is convenient for St Malo and the ferry terminals about a 10–15 minute drive away, and there’s a large supermarket, shops, cafés and an aquarium very close. I had traveled a long way and was tired, so I would have preferred a bath instead of a shower; I left too early for breakfast, so it would have been nice to have a takeaway coffee or croissant; the place would have been perfect if they had a restaurant; they provide snacks and I had one that was okay but I’d like something more substantial without having to drive off.

The rooms had a nice design and a wonderful bed; in the evening there was no real dinner option, only a pre‑cooked meal; nearby, within about 10 minutes, there were many fast‑food choices, so you wouldn’t go hungry if you arrive late.

“Good for short overnight stays”

The breakfast was exceptional and the staff were super helpful; the bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. However, the room was on the ground floor with no windows, only a terrace door, there was no security or fencing so we didn’t feel safe leaving the door open for fresh air, the air‑conditioning blew directly at the bed making sleep uncomfortable, the bathroom windows on the walls left little privacy, and the hotel had no restaurant, only expensive microwavable meals in glass jars.

“Aanrader voor grote mensen.”

The hotel was very quiet, well‑located, and beautiful; there were facilities to charge an EV, the breakfast area was very nice, the rooms were large but almost everywhere had fixed carpet. In my small size I couldn’t see the bathroom mirror; in short, they don’t take small people into account; when I mentioned this, no solution such as a side mirror was offered; this is a four‑star hotel that is unworthy.
