Yufuin Kotobuki Hananosho, a traditional Japanese ryokan, features large hot spring baths, indoor and open-air, and stunning Mount Yufu views. Located 5 minutes from JR Yufuin Station, it offers Japanese gardens, flat-screen TVs, and refrigerators in rooms. Guests can unwind in the public bathing area with sauna, and enjoy Japanese-set meals, including wagyu beef, at the on-site dining room or Kisui restaurant.

The food was good, but the tatami mats were visibly dirty and the sauna was unusable.

The hot spring hotel may look a bit old‑fashioned from the outside, but the rooms and facilities stay well maintained, giving a cozy stay; dinner and breakfast were impressive and went beyond what we expected; the outdoor public bath lacks striking scenery, yet the overall onsen experience remains very enjoyable; the hotel’s proximity to the train station lets you stash luggage before heading out to Yufuin, making travel around the area hassle‑free; overall, it was a pleasant and convenient place to stay in Yufuin.

The room was comfortable, yet the wall sockets seemed sparse and the TV could use an upgrade.
