The Stellenbosch Hotel seamlessly blends historic charm and modern comfort in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Built on land granted between 1692 and 1701, this 1987 restoration is a designated national monument showcasing Cape Dutch architectural heritage. Centrally located, the hotel is within walking distance of Stellenbosch's oak-lined streets, art galleries, and historic landmarks, with Stellenbosch University 800 metres away.

The building feels old, with worn finishes everywhere. The rooms are cramped, barely enough room to stand next to the bed, and there are almost no lights, making them dark and dingy. Bathroom fixtures are also outdated and broken. On the first night, an open sewer pipe in the kitchen leaked a strong odor throughout the entire apartment.

The location is the biggest advantage of this hotel. I was lucky to arrive early enough to secure a spot in the underground parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, I had to drive around the block twice just to find a place to stop when checking in. For the price I paid, I expected better. The cleanliness could have been improved.
