The location was wonderful, but climbing up to the second floor with the luggage was problematic.

The spot near the dome was great.

The hotel is okay, but I didn’t notice that there is no elevator and the stairs to the rooms are long—problematic with knee prostheses. The reception misinformed us about parking tickets. The dinner menu runs only from 18.30 to 20.00, leaving the rest of the evening unclear. The food is mediocre, the menu is small, featuring only “Spätzle” and side dishes, no vegetables. The hotel can’t blame itself that a dome visit over the weekend wasn’t possible. Only the main door was open, yet a thick rope was stretched. Guests coming for the cathedral should urgently check whether a visit is even possible. The rooms are clean but very, very small. It’s pet‑friendly, but there is hardly any space for a dog, which had to climb over both beds. The manager was friendly and then gave us a room with only one long‑round staircase. I don’t want to write anything negative, just the truth as we experienced it. St. Blasien offers nothing else; we actually came for the cathedral/monastery.
