The place looked visually nice, mainly new or renovated, and was situated in a quiet area surrounded by forest, a stream, and a garden, with both newer and older buildings. The caretaker was extremely friendly, kind, and very flexible, and we were able to change rooms upon arrival because we couldn’t stay in the unit we had booked; we ended up spending two weeks in two separate apartments. However, everything felt a bit unfinished, like a construction site, and the quality was cheap and plastic‑like; there were termites inside, though no strong insecticide smell. Our stay went smoothly until checkout, but on the last evening the glass coffee table in the living room cracked when a tea cup was placed on it, showing that the glass couldn’t withstand heat. We reported it immediately and went to bed. In the morning we saw they had asked for a photo of the table from the previous evening, which we sent. After that we checked out. About an hour later, we unexpectedly ran into the caretaker in front of the shop; he had tried to call us, which we hadn’t noticed, and he told us he had filed a police report against us. He also posted our photo on Facebook, claiming we had caused damage and left without responsibility. We were shocked. He demanded we pay for the table, insisting that customers are responsible for any damage regardless of the cause, so if the poor quality coffee table can’t withstand heat from a coffee cup, it’s our fault. He insisted repeatedly, and we finally decided it was easier to pay the amount they demanded to end the distressing situation. This was the most unpleasant booking and accommodation experience I’ve ever had. A warning for future guests: 1. don’t put anything hot on the glass table, as it may crack; 2. if you stay here, inspect and photograph the entire apartment immediately upon arrival and when leaving, and make sure they accept the room to avoid public blame; 3. use the provided cleaning service frequently. We preferred to clean ourselves, so they blamed us for not inspecting the room often enough.
