“A lovely hotel off the center of Quito”

A cozy little hotel in Quito’s Mariscal neighborhood, with roomy, comfy rooms and warm service. The jacuzzi in our room was a real treat after 24 hours of travelling! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay—a welcoming place to begin our Ecuador adventure. The building feels old and could use a renovation, and the breakfast was a bit dull.

I didn’t like it at all; the décor and the service were both disappointing. When we checked in, the person in charge wasn’t there, so a staff member who was covering the front desk handed us the key without a proper check‑in. By the time the reception staff arrived, two loose, aggressive dogs were roaming the hallway and one nearly bit me; I asked them to stop letting the dogs loose, but they continued to keep them in the corridors, endangering my partner, me, and other guests. The towels were extremely worn, giving a terrible impression. It is true that the price is affordable, but it’s regrettable that they have aggressive dogs roaming around and don’t warn guests.

The location was great, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. There was a moldy patch on the ceiling of the room, which gave off a bad smell if the window was closed. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink.

The room was spacious, with spectacular décor, good lighting, attentive staff, excellent breakfast, and great location. They left the water on the first day and later you had to ask for it; the bathroom gets very wet when you shower.

The people were great, but there was no TV.
