Unfortunately my experience at this house was very negative. The host, Mr Rufino, behaved in a way that I found extremely rude, cold and unprofessional, even ill‑mannered. I have never been treated so poorly in any accommodation in my life! A person in charge of a tourist house should be friendly, welcoming—at least give a smile or a “good morning” to guests. Yet this gentleman showed no sympathy from the moment I arrived. Other guests felt the same. Among all the people I met in Santo Antão, he was undoubtedly the most unpleasant. The room I stayed in was quite small and had no internet, which was another drawback. The house itself is pretty and clean, but the access is quite difficult: from the main road to the accommodation you have to climb very steep and large stairs, which is hard for those arriving with heavy luggage. Breakfast was also disappointing—basically dry bread with cheese and ham, no fruit or anything typical of the region. It’s a shame that a place with so much natural beauty ends up losing some of its charm because of how guests are received by the host. Still, I want to highlight that the staff, unlike the owner, were always helpful, polite and friendly, which I appreciate. This is my personal experience, and I hope it can contribute to future improvements.
