We didn't actually get breakfast

The fireplace, scenery, surroundings, and architecture were all fantastic, but the steep staircase at the beginning of the road is designed for adults and poses a fall risk for both seniors and children.

The place itself is nice, comfortable, and the location offers great views. However, when I arrived the owner demanded cash even though I had already paid, insisting I resolve the issue himself. We argued briefly, and I ended up canceling the booking through the app for free and paying cash instead, losing my discount and paying more. On top of that, the BBQ wasn’t included in the price. I had asked if it was, got a vague answer, and assumed it was, but they charged 2800 yen for the BBQ setup, which wasn’t listed anywhere on the booking. We didn’t actually BBQ; we just used a frying pan. The owner kept talking and didn’t get that we wanted him to leave. There’s no dining table or chairs, so one of us had to sit on the floor—no floor cushions were provided. Walking from the station is a long, steep climb, and if you drive there are no clear parking instructions or directions to the property. Overall, I felt the owner was trying to rip us off by exploiting our lack of alternatives. The extra BBQ cost and the cash-only demand made me feel cheated. A responsible host should know these issues and avoid listing the place if they can’t address them.

There were no positives. I was told I had to prepay, which I did after a phone call that made me suspicious, but the next day I received a message that my parent had died and the owner promised to arrange another accommodation, then disappeared. I was already heading to Izu, so I had no place to stay and ended up wandering. I had already been near a hotel in Izu from Nagoya, so I went to the site hoping for a refund, only to find a Japanese woman claiming to be the owner and staff. The foreign owner didn’t answer the doorbell, so I had to call the police, leading to a messy situation. I eventually got a refund, but it was the worst trip ever. No alternative accommodation was provided, and I had to find another place on the spot. If you’re planning to stay or are still considering it, be very cautious.

The price is reasonable, but the sudden slope is a drawback.
